Great week with Skiing and all the fun learning we have done in our subjects this week. During LA we are diving into our Expository writing by discovering how to organize our thoughts and writing in sequence. This goes hand in hand with our Event Story writing where we are using our new Transition Words – students will be placed in groups and will figure out which words go best in our beginnings, middles, and endings (HINT: see our Weebly page with Transition Words). In Math, the students are learning how to relate time (minutes, hours, days, etc.) to our common activities in our daily lives. Furthermore, we have completed our fun and imaginary food items that we made connections with our food donations – amazing work on your posters and information, Grade 3s! Science has been fun as we have completed our Rocks and Minerals dictionary which will be used for our group research projects. Each group will pick a rock and learn about their properties as well as many other facts/Main Ideas for our rocks. The students will also have some fun experiments on rocks as we will discover how hard they are (Mohs Scale), their true colours (by doing a streak test), and even see the affects “acid rain” has on rocks (by using vinegar as a pretend acidic rain). Please note: there is no homework for this upcoming week due to the short week. Homework will begin again next Friday and please continue to work on your Mathletics and nightly reading. Enjoy your weekend and see you on Monday =;)
