Done by the students in Grade 3 in Room 5:
This past week was quite wonderful as the students worked extremely hard in a number of areas. One of the most entertaining events was our Pink Shirt Assembly. Pink Shirt day is a celebration of anti-bullying and to learn how to accept others and their differences. The Grade 1s hosted a fantastic assembly that taught us many new things as well as reminding us how to be a great friend (i.e. filling our buckets in a positive way). Mrs. Hoye also came into our classroom to teach us about the 4 Zones of Regulation which are the Blue Zone, Red Zone, Yellow Zone, and Green Zone. We made terrific posters where we were given several scenarios where we had to place them in the correct zone and discuss the reasons behind our choices. During our LA this week, we made posters on Transition Words to prepare for our upcoming Event Story on how to build a snowman. In Math we were introduced to our Multiplication and started by relating it to Addition. We had to group numbers in equal groups, show an array, do an addition equation, and write it out in words. In addition, we also got to play with some interesting math dice games where we learned many new games to help improve our basic facts. Science we discovered how many layers the earth has and what they are called (Crust, Mantle, Outer Core, Inner Core). Next week, we will create our own plasticine example of our earth to show the 4 layers...much like an onion.
Please Note: we will be having our next Field Trip on Wed., March 11th to the National Music Centre to craft some thrilling instruments. Thank you to ALL the parent volunteers for offering their time and effort to come learn with us =;)
